Memorial Day Weekend

This time I went with Jack to the secret pools. Taken by the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend, the beach was absolutely packed! Since my last visit, the secret pools exploded to be this huge thing that everyone knows about and visits! ugh it's awful. Tourists tend to complicate everything, especially beach communities. By the time we got to the part where you scale this cliff and get to the private beach, the tide was scary high. So instead of casually risking our lives, we nestled up on this dip in the cliff and just sat there for awhile. It had to be one of the most profound moments I've ever experienced! Sitting there with someone you love and taking in the most beautiful surrounds definitely made me forget that I felt like I was going to be blown off this crazy cliff! Anyways, the panorama was taken from our little dip-in-the-cliff-bathtub place and so were our polaroids and the photo below! Crazy obsessed with that little camera!

After trekking back to the beach we spent the most loveliest time on the sand with 23427978 of our closest tourist friends! But I have to admit it was such a nice day that I didn't really care, especially since we were having such a great time! At the end of the day we went back to the beach by us and laid on this little plateau in the middle of these succulents growing out of the sand and watched the sunset! It was absolutely gorgeous and that day was one for the books!

What to Wear to a Summer Concert

water color drawing by me.

Top: Wear a cute crop tank top or short sleeve! You could even go for a super cute bandeau too! It’s probably going to be super hot, especially in an outside venue, so make sure you wear sunscreen so you don’t get funky strap tan lines!
Bottoms: For bottoms, you have so many options! Go with high waisted shorts for a 90s look; or maybe a flowy skirt to be more flirty! My favorite thing right now is tulip shorts! They’re light enough so you won’t be hot and super comfortable! You could also go for a summery dress or even a super cute romper/playsuit!
Shoes: I’d suggest sandals! Especially coming from someone who’s 5’2” I’m absolutely in love with platform sandals so you get extra height, plus it’s extra cute! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes though, you want to make sure you can move and function around the venue!
Accessories: Definitely sunglasses and/or a hat! Especially if the venue it outside, stay cool and cute with these accessories! Personally I own way too many wide-brim fedoras and this would be a perfect time to wear one! Also cameras are a must unless you’re an awesome phone photographer or photos aren’t your thing. Don’t forget a bag to put your phone and things in! A cute small backpack is always a great option too!

Journal Time!

Since I started my journal I’ve gotten a lot of questions on how to get inspired, what to use, and how to journal the “right” way and in this post, you’ll know all the secrets!
Journaling is very therapeutic and a great way to stay creative so I hope you will all try it out and I can’t wait to see your amazing projects! :)
What to use:
Some type of journal! A notebook, sketch book, random pages strung together, spiral, bound, whatever you want and are comfortable with. Your journal is about you and what you like! If you want to make it more of a sketch book or with using pen or markers I’d suggest thicker pages so it doesn’t bleed through! Personally, I use a pen, a sharpie pen, double sided tape, water color pencils, a brush, and my brain!
How to get inspired:
Look at tumblr, the world around you, music, family, friends, experiences, memories, literally anything. I pull inspiration from photos I see around tumblr and stashed on my computer. Also from random things I think about (mainly while trying to fall asleep which is impossible to do). Don’t filter your thoughts and let your mind wander! Make your journal an extension of you and your creativity! I promise anything you do will be amazing!

What to write about:
After pulling from your inspiration, gather your thoughts and just let it explode on the page. Sometimes I have trouble thinking of what to write, so I pull text posts from tumblr that just say the right thing of how I’m feeling. If you’re a natural writer and can let your thoughts flow pages on pages, that’s amazing! Of course, your journal is all about you, so write and feel how ever you want!
Bottom Line:
Don’t be afraid to express your unique self and make your journal you! As I said, anything you do will be amazing and don’t be afraid to cover pages with anything you want or “wasting” pages or if something is “right”. You can have plenty of journals and anything you feel is just right.
Lastly, if you need some jams to get inspiration flowing, you can check out my journal inspired playlists here!
Stay Positive and Journal On!

Reminders

Lately I’ve been on a roller-coaster of ups and downs and I just can’t get off of it. It’s been super tough and I know I need to get through it and that I can. I need to put me first and keep reminding myself certain things. Things like this:
A writer for the New York Times interviewed a series of people who had survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Every person she interviewed admitted that about two thirds of the way down, they realized that every seemingly meaningless problem that caused them to jump was fixable. Every single one.
I can fix my problems and I can make myself and better person and I can be whoever I want to be and I can do whatever I want to and I can love whoever I want to and I can travel wherever I want to. I can.

weightless

Last night my boyfriend and I rode bikes to the beach and it was such a beautiful night. I don’t know why, but the night just makes me feel so calm and so alive and so happy.

I felt so at peace, which is something I haven’t felt in a long time. There was something about last night that really just made me feel like I’m okay and that I’m alive and that I can get through the rest of the year just fine.
I just have to keep reminding myself of nights like these and this feeling.

Sorry this is more of a diary-type post, but I hope you all go on awesome night adventures and feel as alive as I did!
