AM

~ ARCTIC MONKEYS WAS SO GREAT ~

Sorry folks I needed to get that out of my system. But it was and they were and I am so bitter when I listen to their music now because I wish I was still at the concert! When I was hunting for tickets I would check their website everyday for a few weeks and eventually I finally gave up. AND of course thats when they started to sell tickets. However, thanks to the handiwork of my boyfriend and my ticket-hunting skills we managed to sit in the pit in the best venue ever!
My boyfriend and I drove two hours away for the concert while eating candy and joking that we'd call his mom saying the car broke down so we'd have to stay overnight just to give her a heart attack. But we didn't!

When we got to the concert there were two things my boyfriend said that still make me giggle (let me remind you he's not a huge fan of AM).
  • "Why is everyone wearing leather jackets? Is that a thing?"
and after Alex Turner walked on stage for the first time while pointing and fan-girling
  • "OH MY GOSH LOOK AT HIM! He has so much swag!"
And the concert was amazing! I took a buttload of pictures and videos and I'm pretty sure I made eye contact with Alex Turner and died a little bit! It was so great listening to them and seeing them live! The show was amazing especially with the light up AM which was my absolute favorite part!

One of the greatest parts of the night thought was listening to No.1 Party Anthem where Alex brought out the acoustic guitar and my boyfriend wrapped his arms around me and everyone light up their phones and swayed to the music. Perfect.

Overall such a great and wonderful experience! I'm SO happy I was able to go to dance to the music of my favorite band with my favorite person!

Stars & Stripes

After reading the title you can probably guess this is a bit of a late post! But I have an excuse! I took most of my pictures on a film camera and I was waiting for them to develop so thus, it's all good. The Fourth of July was another one of those days where you won't forget it even if you're totally gone.

After waking up in a daze from lack of sleep the night before, my friend and I rode our bikes to Bobby's boat where I found Jack swimming in the water and these kids having gnarly house parties that seemed really fun. Oh and did I forget to mention my neighbor was partying hardcore since 8AM? Super loudly in fact. The boat attendees were Tiare, Jake, Nikki, Chris, Bob, TK (who's name, after years of hearing rumors, is confirmed to be on his birth certificate as just being TK, nothing else!), Jack, Cailynn, and yours truly. We were coasting through the bay where we brought out the Tiki cups while talking about college and visiting each other and the future which to me, is still a little scary to think about.
After visiting the docks where Jack works, we set out for the ocean! TK, Cailynn, Chris, and I were at the front of the boat and were dying because we were going so fast and laughing so hard. It was literally insane. Eventually after the craziness, we finally anchored and witnessed the biggest ocean party: people packed onto boats, swimming with red cups, partying on the beach, all with their music blasting. We played King's Cup and Signs which were both soo much fun! We still talk about how great it was to just be with everyone, playing games, and of course, being on a boat.

I took a lot of polaroids and film pictures (as you can see) as we were just having a good time listening to music and being silly.
Then we cast off once more and it was Cailynn, Jake, and I at the front telling Bobby to turn down and holding on for dear life. Cailynn slid off the front of the cushion and when we finally got back into the harbor we realized that the boat was covered in blood! Thank God it was only Cailynn's knee. We cruised back through the harbor like party veterans with battle wounds and all and after getting the boat parked we were off! Dodging tourists that were way past gone, struggling to ride bikes, and trying for dear life to stay together (we lost Jake but somehow he made it there first? we're still confused about that) we finally made it to Nikki's house! We chilled out for awhile and ate a bunch (chips and salsa never tasted so good) and started the games again!

Jack and I made it to Nikki's room where we just laid on the floor and giggled about random stuff and it was just a really nice moment to share! Especially on such a hectic day with little alone time.
The day continued with more people showing up and even more epic games. Once it got dark, everyone kind of hit rock bottom. Super tired and gamed-out. I mean I found them all upstairs laying all around the living room, some belly up and some face down (ouch) and of course Oscar playing the ukulele.

The only thing that roused the crowd was Chipotle. Who doesn't love a casual burrito bowl at 11 at night? However, we forgot it was 11 at night so we mourned the loss of Chipotle when we saw the workers barricading the door. But alas we rode "WILD IN THE STREETS" as Bobby kept yelling. We figured we'd go to Jake's friend's party and they did not disappoint food wise with cookies and cupcakes! BUT at the party it was all like 25+ years old and I never felt so out of place and awkward.
Eventually Me, Jack, Austin, Bob, Chris, and Maddie went to Del Taco to feed our Mexican food craving and escape the awkwardness. Let me tell you Del was literally out of control. People were chanting "CHUG" and singing the national anthem followed by a USA chant. I mean what else do you expect at Del Taco at 2AM? We all rode home safely and all I can say is that it was a very memorable and fun time!

Happy America!

Summer vs College

Before dinner one night my boyfriend and I went to one of my favorite places ever! You can literally see so much and hear the world around you and gosh I just love it! I'm really starting to love this place justtt when I'm going to leave for college. I keep finding new epic places or even going to the stupid diner I always eat at and it all makes me die a little inside when I know I'm going further up the coast.

Thinking about all this mess is like a constant loop-de-loop on a roller coaster where my thought process goes from YES LET'S GO OMG to :,( and especially after going to orientation I'm kind of at the place where I'm on the roller coaster and we're about to loop and I know it's coming but I almost don't want it to happen. You feel? Or am I completely insane? Who really even knows.
Bright side of summer: do whatever I want (nothing too insane or against the law), be with my bestest friends, appreciate my home and family, live it up.
Bright side of college: start my new life! meet new homies and potential baes (I already have my eye on one whoa), be in a new place, find who I really am and want to be!

Both insanely good. Both the best.

I'm sure my whatever feelings will pass because I know everyone will have a great time at school and I'll always see my friends and family but it'll never be the same I feel.
But I have a feeling that's the best part of the deal.

The FEMME Series

The FEMME Series was something that I've been inspired to make after seeing some similar images!
I've been making these to take a stand of my own sort and speak out. People can disagree or think it's stupid or whatever but you can't deny the facts, stereotypes, and things us girls have grown up to know as a societal norm. No one (hopefully) wants to live in a violent world and some will say that bad things happen, which is true! I feel bad things will always happen. But there are preventable situations too. Women have been taught to defend themselves, but I think it's time to fight too.

Take a stand. Fight societal pressures. Know you're perfect just the way you are.

Monochrome

Here's another quick OOTD post! For me, stripes are a complete necessity and I'm not lying when I say I've worn this shirt wayy too many times! But it's a great basic for any season, even summer!
Plus I'm always one for a simple black and white outfit. This girl came into the store I worked at and wanted a colored necklace and of course asked me, the black and white queen, for help.
Andd I did not make that sale!

Top: Urban Outfitters
Shorts: Free People
Shoes: Windsor Smith (not pictured whoops)
Bag: Kate Spade
Hat: Free People

The Personal Note: My friend and I went to this super trendy beach by us and we both fashioned our floppy hats to fit in. It was a really fun day! I also had literally the best burger in my life.

Sunrise, Sunset

Yesterday I graduated from high school and as I said before it's truly bittersweet! These past few weeks have literally been the best ever and yesterday was no exception! Graduation was a truly memorable event with one poor girl tripping literally four times before she reached the stage, to talking to the guy sitting next to me who is literally so funny! We just laughed about how crazy all the girls shoes were and how the heck they were able to function in them (minus that one poor girl). Oh and as an extra plus, I was able to be in the right place at the right time before graduation to listen to the girl who lost Prom Queen to me talk absolute ish on me. The night before she saw me and my friend going to Bob's and asked us if he was having a party and what not and there I was standing listening to her bitterness. Whoops.

As mentioned, the night before our great Prom host Bob had another party which was a great time again! I only had one Polaroid of the night with me and two of my guy friends one of which sat next to me in art freshman year. He wrote in my yearbook, "some of my greatest memories of high school took place while sitting next to you in art." And honestly, that was my favorite thing anyone wrote! (I also confessed to one guy that I had a crush on him like the first week of freshman year in his yearbook #fisy) But I thought it was only appropriate that I haven't talked to my art friend since freshman year and just had a conversation with him in our last few days.  It still wasn't real when one girl was talking about how it was our last high school party, although everyone become immediately quiet! But the night was really fun! I started a beach party in Bob's garage including beach chairs and a surfboard and we all danced with a strobe light to the tune of #tbt music while yelling "7th grade dance party!" My friend and I almost did an all-nighter talking about everything from college to relationships to anxiety to eye glasses to going to San Francisco to visiting secret locations to gosh I don't even remember I was so tired aha. But it's really true that the longer you stay up and talk to someone the more personal and real things become.

Grad night was equally as great! We got our faces painted, funky "ocean theme" hair, glitter tattoo (I got a rainbow flaming skull to fit my bada$$ personality), danced, started a water riot, and watched our friends get hypnotized. It was literally so great! After the night was over me and my two friends drove to the beach and met up with another group and watched the sun come up! Sitting in the dark and talking further proved that staying up late with weary eyes and bodies can stir up some good conversation. Not only that but it can bring out some great Flume remixes. We waded into the ocean, which by the way was literally the warmest it's ever been, and laid out on my friends comforter. And when the sun finally arrived for the day, it was a breath of fresh air! I couldn't get over the fact that only fifteen minutes before it was pitch black. Some sort of symbolism for life perhaps? After the rest of the group left and we were satisfied with our selfies and over our giggling we finally went home! It's a super weird feeling going home after all of that plus when it's light out. I wouldn't trade these past few weeks for anything! The pictures above of the sunrise are from this morning of me and my friend Oscar and the sunset is from awhile back with my boyfriend at one of my favorite places!

Shades of Cool

This week's band appreciation goes to the one and only Lana Del Rey. Her haunting and mystical voice makes me slip away from the world for a little bit. One of those artists where I could listen to her music for hours, everything about her lyrics to her musical style is completely on point.

I saw her two years ago when Video Games was popular in an airport in London after realizing she sat in the back row of our flight. She was more beautiful in person and I still wish I would've said hi when she was five feet away from me in the queue but I was too scared! Since then I've been following her growth in her music and I couldn't be more pleased with her sound!

I've been enamored of her and her work since the start! She is an amazing artist and for that I'll always respect and admire her work!

June Gloom

Here's a quick OOTD post inspired by the gray skies, misty mornings, lil June bugs, and June Gloom!

Crop Sweater: Brandy Melville
Circle Skirt: American Apparel
Shoes: Windsor Smith
Hat: Free People

On a personal note: the graduation countdown continues and everything has slowed down a little! I had another failed secret pools attempt, went bowling with my fellow AP Calculus students, had a long hard chat about the future, went out with friends, and got about zero sleep. #sleepwhenyou'redead

Prom Queen

Yep, as cliché as it sounds, I'm the Prom Queen! I didn't run for it or campaign or anything, it just happened to fall into my lap thanks to my awesome friends! (The real reason I wanted to win was because the other two girls were typical #meangirls where they get everything!) I totally didn't expect it so when my friend called my name I was shocked! Only one of the girls congratulated me and the other one was so bitter but alas I'm glad I shook things up for once!
After a ton of planning and stressing Prom was one of the funnest nights ever. I mean one guy in my group came dressed in a full on suit like the one like Viktor Krum and my boyfriend wore an all white suit! We had dinner at my friends house which is literally on the beach where we took even more pictures. The Prom location was the weirdest place ever but soo fun! I got to "slow dance" to the musical stylings of traditional Mexican music with my friends in a gazebo, gamble on Blackjack and have a gnarly winning streak, sing karaoke with my math teacher (Material Girl by Madonna, his favorite), scream Twist and Shout by the Beatles on stage with my friends, danced with my Senior Crush, and the highlight, as is the highlight of every major night which seems to be some kind of reoccurring theme, dancing to Come On Eileen. I mean that song comes on and brings down the house every time. Even our Principal jumped into the mosh pit and started dancing! My boyfriend and I were singing the lyrics and dancing and holding hands and having the greatest time. I love that guy and I love that song.
~*The After Party*~ consisted of a myriad of people, I mean we even had a special appearance of the celebrity #Chris, but we'll talk about him later. My friend and I took Polaroids throughout the night and as you can see above and before and after picture of the night! The crown was passed around and multiple videos have surfaced of my guy friends saying that they were prom queen aha so it was fun to say the least.

The night consisted of all of us walking around, having random conversations, taking pictures, at one point my boyfriend and I were in this side room where he dropped randomly on one knee and fake proposed to me ahaha, and then Chris showed up. He wasn't in our prom group which is why he became a celebrity. He's a pretty fun but mean but awkward guy so my friend and I naturally developed a weird obsession with him. I don't know why but I decided to touch his butt periodically throughout the night ? I mean I guess so ?  and since I've been seeing him at school I die a little, but it was a fun night! I randomly had a who-knows-how-long conversation with this other guy about his family and their business that will eventually be passed down to him, many conversations of people reminding me that I was PQ to which I offered my crown and said, "you can be prom queen too!" (which is probably why there are so many videos of people with the crown on), watched many games of bp, and somehow it rolled around to 4:40 am when the group dwindled down and our wonderful host Bob finally became too cashed.
When we all woke up in my morning, courtesy of my badly timed and obnoxious hiccups, we all had breakfast and tried to recall what happened the night before, which was basically three hours ago.  It was literally one of the greatest nights of my life thus far, hands down!                                            Song of the Day: Come On Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners          Follow on Bloglovin

Bittersweet Symphony

It was either last Saturday or two Saturdays ago, who really knows? But anyways my friend has thrown a ton of parties at her house. Not only has it been such a gnarly and crazy fun time these past couple of weeks, but it's been pretty sad too! My final year of high school is ending and I'm starting to realize that I will never see or talk to most my friends and random acquaintances ever again. How crazy is that! I'm also starting to realize that I need to become some sort of adult.
You'll be seeing a ton of Polaroids from me because I love that little camera. Like in the picture on the right we were all sitting in the kitchen when Come on Eileen came on and all I remember is feelin free and spinning endlessly and dancing and all of us singing the lyrics. I've been feeling alive.

Which brings me back to the "Bittersweet Symphony" when I walked out to the front yard and saw my friend just standing there by himself. He just looked at me and said "how do you feel about high school ending?" and I tried to answer in this drawn out fashion filled with a cacophony of emotions and trying to explain the weirdness that I was feeling and he just nodded and said "bittersweet."

Thus, the Song of the Day is Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. I remember running back into the backyard, playing that song and just sitting by the fire and reflecting on everything. Also featuring some Jimi Hendrix and other throwbacks to complete the mood. It all went by so fast but these past few weeks have literally made it the best I could have ever asked for.
